International Relations and Foreign Service of the Department of Political
Science, University of San Carlos. The celebration is in observance of the long
historical ties that both countries have shared for the past years, and in the
future endeavours that would occur.
60 years
after the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 212 on declaring then
November 15, 1955 as the Philippine-American Friendship Day now celebrated
every 4th of July calls, for a much stronger observance of the
friendship that both countries has established throughout the years. The
celebration is just one of the few manifestations illustrated to the continuing
camaraderie of the Philippines and the United States.
As
students of the university, we are expected to be heavily involved in the
conduct of its celebration most especially to us, as International Relations
and Foreign Service majors. We are at the best footing of demonstrating our way
of celebrating the friendship day. Let it be a reminder of the relationship
both countries has shared through history, and for the future endeavours that
will occur. It is the ultimate culmination of our mutual interest in a way that
we can be able to showcase our relationship with the United States, and can be
a way of discussing ideas to further our rapport with the country.
Through
this celebration, we can fully understand the role of our country in building a
strong relationship with others. We can be able to express our own ideas that
may lead us to the answers that we are trying to find. Therefore, it is
important that we’ll be able to celebrate annually the Filipino-American
Friendship day.
